Message Howdy!

I was hoping I could get a few suggestions from you guys since you've probably seen it all.

I went to a track day a week ago. After the 3rd lap of a race, the clutch pin came out of my pedal. I was able to jab the transmission into 2nd and limp back to the paddock. I had my boost set to 10psi with a conservative duty cycle to keep the engine stress low. The engine seemed okay going into the paddock. After fixing the clutch, I started my car and then could easily hear the idle was all over the place. It was up and down and up and down, etc. I was able to limp it home, and could tell something was wrong with the air metering, spark...timing... something was not right.

When I got home I discovered the two vacuum caps over the throttle body nipples were gone. I fixed it with another set (temporary) and boost-leak tested the car. Now my car was holding boost, so I figured the air-leaks were causing the idle to jump around.

I also screened the oil out of the filter to check for metal shavings. I didn't see anything.

I started the car after fixing the air leak, and could tell the idle was again, all over the place. The car doesn't sound too healthy, plus I hear a noise around the front timing cover.

My next steps to diagnose are to take the timing covers off and make sure the sprockets align properly so everything is sync. Maybe to also take off the intake sprocket covers to check the springs.

Any other suggestions beyond that assuming I don't find anything wrong with my timing belt and gears? I guess I could check fuel pressure next. I didn't seem to have a problem in a higher gear, but coming off the throttle in a low gear made the car hesitate and stumble.

Thanks.
